A large number of Rhodes students live in town. These students are called Oppidans or Oppies.

To support these students, there is a Oppidan Hall Warden and Oppidan sub-wardens. The latter are appointed on an annual basis. The key purpose of the Oppidan sub-warden is to assist the Warden in the effective and efficient running of the Oppidan student system in order to provide a high-quality support service to Oppidan students.
