* Professor Booth studied at Rhodes University where he obtained his BSc (1992), BScH (1993) and a PhD (1997).
* He was appointed as Lecturer in the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science in 1998 when the Department started its undergraduate programme and was promoted to Senior Lecturer three years later. In 2002 he was appointed as the Meek Professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks while on a Fulbright Scholarship. He returned to the Department of Ichthyology and Fisheries Science at Rhodes University as an Associate Professor in 2004 and was promoted to Professor in 2009. He served as the Head of the Department of Geology (2017-2022) and as the Dean of Science at Rhodes University (2015 - 2023).
* He teaches at all undergraduate levels in Applied and Mathematical Statistics and Honours and Master courses in Statistical Computation and Stochastic Modelling.
* His research interests lie in quantitative fisheries biology and ecology, concentrating on fish biology and their management in southern Africa. His current research focuses on quantitative ecology and the life history.
