Emi Koide

Emi Koide (Senior Research Associate with the NRF/DST SARChI research programme in Geopolitics and the Arts of Africa, Fine Art Department, Rhodes University, South Africa) is an assistant professor of Visual Arts and MA in History of Africa, Diaspora and Indigenous People at the Center of Arts, Humanities and Letters (CAHL) of the Federal University of Rec?ncavo da Bahia (UFRB, Brazil). She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Art History at Universidade Federal de S?o Paulo (UNIFESP) and had a fellowship at the Institute for Anthropological Research in Africa at KU Leuven, Belgium, where she developed the project “Images of Africa: Specters of the Congo colonization” with support from FAPESP (2013–16).? She coordinates the research group ?fricas nas Artes -  “Histories and Narratives of Arts  from the South in Transcultural Perspectives: circularities, currents and ressignifications” (CNPq). Her research interests include African and Afro-Brazilian art, Global modernisms and contemporary practices.
